Abstracts Submission

You are invited to submit your abstract for your participation in the scientific programme with an oral or poster presentation.

Abstracts should be included in the following thematic streams:

  • Climate Change
  • Science for security and stability
  • Facing natural disasters
  • Nutrition and health
  • Science and innovation policy
  • Towards Web3
  • Science Communication
  • Designing the modern city
  • Building a smart home
  • Fighting for resources
  • The new viruses
  • Manufacturing Confusion

Abstract Submission

Guidelines for Authors

Given that the abstracts will be reproduced in the Book of Abstracts exactly in the form they are submitted, authors are kindly requested to adhere to the following guidelines.

  1. The abstract text should be written in English.
  2. It should not exceed 300 words(1) (names and affiliation details not included).
  3. The suggested font is Tahoma, size 10 cpi
  4. Text alignment: Justified
  5. Spacing between the title, the author(s) and the abstract text should be “Single”
  6. Line spacing of the text should be “Single”
  7. The Abstract title should be typed in UPPER CASE.
  8. The Family name(s) of the author(s) should be written in lower case preceded by the author’s first name(s) of the author(s) written in full (e.g. Maria Reynolds).
  9. The presenting author’s name must be written in bold.
  10. All authors’ affiliation details [department, institution/hospital, city/town, state (if applicable) and country] should be written under the names, preceded by the corresponding indices. The affiliation should NOT be mentioned in the abstract text.
  11. The abstract should be divided in the following sections (the titles being typed in lower case and in bold): Introduction – Purpose – Material – Methods – Results – Conclusions.
  12. The text may include standard abbreviations, tables, diagrams and photographs, as long as they remain within the page margins and the total amount of words does not exceed the abovementioned limit (300 words).

Submission Procedure

You may submit your abstract according to the abstract submission guidelines by August 28th, 2009, as follows:

  • Via e-mail: You may send the abstract to the e-mail address esme2009-abstracts@candc-group.com attaching:
    • the abstract submission form duly completed and
    • the abstract in Microsoft Office Word format following the instructions given above.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 
August 28th, 2009

Abstract withdrawal

If you wish to withdraw an abstract, please contact the Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) before August 28th 2009, otherwise the papers will be published in the Congress abstract book and/ or will be posted on the www.esme2009.org .

NOTES

  1. Abstracts submitted after August 28th 2009 will not be accepted.
  2. Timely payment of the registration fee is mandatory for all presenting authors.
  3. All accepted abstracts will be included in the book of abstracts, provided that the presenting author has been registered to the congress.
  4. In case the same author presents more than one abstracts, one of the co-authors should be registered additionally for each other abstract.
  5. Notification about the successful submission of the abstract will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author within three (3) days after the abstract has been received.In case you do not receive such a notification, please contact the Professional Congress Organiser (PCO).
  6. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. The presenting authors will be informed by e-mail about the status of the abstract (accepted/rejected) on September 11th, 2009.
  7. Please bear in mind that the Scientific Committee will decide about the abstract’s final presentation type and theme category.
  8. Please read carefully and follow the instructions, as incomplete submissions will not be reviewed. 

Abstracts  submitted   via  fax  will  NOT  be  accepted.
